Supporting Pupils Who Have Been
Bereaved

Online Workshop - Wednesday April 30th from 7pm to 8.30pm

Teachers and school staff are uniquely positioned to support pupils who have lost someone they love. 28% of Irish 9-year olds have lost a grandparent, and 2.2% a parent, according to ESRI research. UK figures show that 7 in 10 schools have a bereaved pupil on their roll book at all times.

Bereavement can impact hugely on the emotional and social well-being of children, and on their ability to concentrate and learn. Yet, school and its routine can also provide a safe space for a child whose world has been turned upside down.

Most grieving pupils do not need a bereavement expert, they need the support of people who care.
